The novel The Da Vinci Code: The Illustrated Edition is one of the celebrated novels by Dan Brown, which revolves around the secret society of Priory of Sion, a century old secret society which was formed to protect a sacred mystery of hidden treasured religious relics.
The Da Vinci Code begins with a gruesome murder of a museum curator in France in a suspicious manner with various codes left on the murder spots. Then the plot includes a professor of Harvard University, Robert Langdon and a French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, who also happened to be a relative of the murdered curator. The story then falls into various twists and turns as these two characters start deciphering the codes and get closer inch by inch to the century old hidden treasure of the secret society.
The novel binds the interest of the reader with the constant attempts of another group called the Opus Dei, which was on the mission to get to the hidden treasure before anybody else could reach to it, thus creating a challenge for Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu at every step of deciphering the mystery. Not only that, the novel also has a limitation of time within which Robert and Sophie need to decipher the mystery prior to it being lost forever. The novel The Da Vinci Code: The Illustrated Edition is available in hardcover format and published by Bantam Press in 2004
