kr 350,00
Born in 1877, Oscar Vladislas de Lubiez Milosz, mystical poet, metaphyscian, dramatist, Biblical exegete and novelist, was of Lithuanian and Jewish origin, but was educated in France and wrote in French.
«A great French poet, one of the greatest among the greatest poets of the world,» according to Jean Cassou, «Europe’s greatest gift to France…our French Goethe,» according to Paul Fort – while Valèry wrote of the poem H, «I have never seen a text so close to being itself» – Milosz was also a great philosopher – «one of the mystical philosophers, of a stature comparable only to Pascal, Boehme, Plotinus, Goethe and Blake» (Kathleen Raine) – and a man of action; a diplomat in the service of independent Lithuania.
The Noble Traveller, containing Milosz’s two main works of mystical philosophy, together with a large selection of his poetry, an extensive bio-chronology and photographs, constitutes a complete introduction to this important literary, philosophical and spiritual writer.
